Dear Neighbors,
I hope you have been enjoying the holiday season! It has been my pleasure to serve you over the past two years, which have been full of many challenges and victories along the way. I have two highlights from the past year that I’d like to mention. First, I was thrilled to work alongside the governor to pass a budget that invests more in our children’s education than any previous budget. For additional information on the budget, please check out this link.
Second, I was also thrilled Democrats took control of both chambers of the state Legislature for the first time in over 40 years! This will allow my colleagues and me to accomplish some of the meaningful policy goals we care about in our district. From common-sense gun violence prevention policies, like universal background checks and safe storage laws, to an expansion in the earned income tax credit, which will put more money back in the pockets of working people in our state. These are only a few of the things that I hope we are able to accomplish in the coming legislative term.
Finally, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone in the 27th District who put your trust in me two years ago to be your voice in Lansing. It has been an incredible honor, and I am sad that I will no longer be representing the communities of Hazel Park, Ferndale and Pleasant Ridge due to redistricting in the new year. However, I know the incoming representatives will do a wonderful job serving these communities. If you are unsure what district you now live in, please use the Secretary of State’s website linked here to find out. If you have changed districts, you will have to subscribe to your new representative’s e-news to get updates from them. I hope to see you around the district as the new year starts. I am looking forward to fully returning to work from maternity leave in the new year after welcoming my twins in October. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any thoughts or concerns as the new Legislature begins.
Sincerely,
Regina
