Hello friends,

Hopefully, we experienced the last blast of winter this week! I am looking forward to celebrating Earth Day this Sunday. Earth Day was started in 1970 to celebrate the beauty of Earth and raise awareness about the importance of its environmental protection. This annual event is observed on April 22 and is now celebrated in more than 190 countries. As we head further into spring, and eventually into summer, we can all work to do our part to reduce, reuse, and recycle, and protect this wonderful state we call home. I was also happy to meet with Honey Creek student Charlotte Tierney, a state’s Earth Day poster competition winners.

As always, you can contact my staff and me at (517) 373-0828, by email at DonnaLasinski@house.mi.govWater is essential to our livelihoods, and as we are surrounded by 1/5 of the world’s fresh water, it is at the core of our identity. I have received many calls, emails, and letters expressing concerns about recent water decisions. I wanted to take a moment to address them here and to encourage you to keep advocating for our natural resources.

é’s water withdrawal permit request to increase its groundwater withdrawal limits has been approved by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. éCome join me in discussing the future of Michigan’s budget. I’ll take time to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the Legislatures goals with this year’s state budget.
