Wilson Event

Rep. Jimmie Wilson, Jr. introducing the Judiciary Budget on the House Floor.

Rep. Wilson serves as the Chair of the Judiciary Appropriations Subcommittee and spoke in favor of his budget on the House floor on Wednesday, May 10. His recommended budget was then passed by the House. Some key highlights of the recommended House Judiciary budget that Rep. Wilson is particularly proud of and excited about are:

  • Increase funds to Problem Solving Courts — particularly Mental Health Courts
  • Provide funds to implement a key recommendation from the MI Juvenile Justice Taskforce to create a Juvenile Justice Services Division within the State Court Administrative Office.
  • Provide Funds to the State Appellate Defender’s Office to assist with resentencing our juvenile lifers.
  • Increase funds to the Judicial Tenure Commission to assist in eliminating the growing backlogs.

Full details of the House recommended Judiciary budget can be found HERE.

Rep. Wilson’s floor speech introducing the House recommended Judiciary budget can be found HERE.
