Rep. Hope Brings Home $7.5 Million for Delhi Township Fire Dept.
This week, Senate Appropriations Chair state Sen. Sarah Anthony and I joined Delhi Township Manager Tracy Miller and Delhi Township Fire Chief Brian Ball to discuss the $7.5 million in funding that the fire department will receive through the 2024 state budget. This money will help provide much needed health and safety improvements to the fire department building as well as an expansion to accommodate firefighters.
This is just one stop on Gov. Whitmer’s “Make it in Michigan” statewide tour. Throughout August, legislators will hold events at sites in their districts that will receive state support to celebrate the positive impact the investments will have on their local communities.
Gov. Whitmer Announces ‘What’s Next Address’ in August
On Aug. 30, Gov. Whitmer will deliver an address detailing policy priorities for the fall. The governor is expected to discuss her proposals to expand opportunities, lower costs, make Michigan more competitive, and protect individuals’ basic rights. New Traffic Safety Service Begins in Lansing Area
The Michigan Department of Transportation launched their Safety Service Patrol, previously known as the Freeway Courtesy Patrol, on Aug. 1 to promote safety on the roads. In the event of a crash, flat tire, driver in need of fuel or debris on the roadway, the Safety Service Patrol will help clear incidents on the road. The following freeways are patrolled:
- I-96 from U.S. 127 to I-69.
- I-69 from I-96 to U.S. 127.
- U.S. 127 from I-69 to I-96.
- I-496 from I-96 to U.S. 127.
- I-96 from U.S. 127 to Okemos Road.
Rep. Hope to Host Workers Rights Town Hall in September
I am hosting a Workers Rights Town Hall on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 6-8 p.m., at Alfreda Schmidt Community Center, 5825 Wise Road in Lansing. Local workers rights groups will be joining me to discuss the labor legislation that the House has passed so far, as well as future legislation to help working families in our state.
