Hello,
Welcome to the July 2024 edition of my monthly Capitol and Community updates. I hope you’ve had a safe and happy Fourth of July celebration so far! I’m honored to serve as our community’s voice at the Capitol in Lansing. My dedication to serving you and the 18th House District is my top priority. Just last week, we finished the budget in Lansing. As chair of the House Economic Development and Small Business Committee, I’m happy to see a lot of strong investments in our local hometowns. We are investing in economic development and community revitalization, which includes substantial investments in local economies, safety and greater focus on the wellbeing of Michiganders. House Dems are reinforcing their commitment to building stronger hometowns and investing in working Michiganders.

Small Business of the Month Nominations
Our community is truly a special one for businesses big and small. I’m pleased to announce that my office will be honoring a different 18th District Small Business each month based on nominations from you. Nominate your favorite small business in Southfield, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Oak Park, or Lathrup Village to receive a certificate from my office. Michigan offers many different grants and loans, depending on your and/or your community’s needs. These departments have specific eligibility criteria, application processes, and deadlines for their grant and loan programs.

To support the economic development and standing of our state and its businesses, both small and large.

A part of the MEDC, the MACC grant programs are dedicated to “ensuring that every citizen and community in Michigan enjoys the civic, economic, and educational benefits of arts and culture.”
Michigan Humanities Council (MHC)
To support humanities-based projects, programs, and initiatives that engage Michigan residents in exploring cultural heritage, history, literature and civic life.
