LANSING, Mich., July 1, 2022 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed a budget that includes significant investments in education, local government services and the economy. Specifically, the state budget includes over $500,000 for the Ascend Foundation, which was founded on behalf of the late Pontiac Mayor and state Rep. Clarence Phillips. In response, state Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) issued the following statement in support of the budget’s passage:

“This budget is a victory for our district. Delivering this crucial funding to Ascend Foundation will only expand opportunities for economic growth and educational training in our community. I know that Mayor Phillips is smiling down on us not only about this investment but all the investments we made today in education, public safety and community development to put the needs of Michiganders first.”
