PONTIAC, Mich., April 9, 2025 — State Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) hosted a Renters and Homeowners Resource Fair last week, bringing together housing experts, local organizations and state agencies to provide essential resources for Michigan residents.

“Housing is the foundation of strong communities, and every resident deserves access to safe, affordable housing,” Carter said. “This event was about making sure renters and homeowners alike have the tools they need to navigate challenges, whether it’s avoiding eviction, securing down payment assistance or understanding their legal rights.”

The event featured Pontiac Code Enforcement Manager Jack McIntyre, Zachary Crawford from the Office of Congresswoman Haley Stevens, Natasha Atkinson Chief of Staff to state Rep. Emily Dievendorf and representatives from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Michigan State Housing Development Authority, Catholic Community Response Team, Oakland County Treasurer Robert Wittenberg’s Office and many other community organizations.

“Thank you, Representative Carter, for hosting my team at your Housing Resource Fair,” Stevens said. “I am committed to ensuring the services my office provides are accessible to all those I have the honor of representing. Every family deserves a safe and secure place to live and by engaging directly with those facing housing challenges, we are one step closer to making this a reality.”

“Thank you to the incredible agencies from every level of government, as well as our community organizations, for dedicating your time and expertise. And to the constituents who came out in full force — thank you for showing just how strong, engaged and solution-driven our community is,” Carter said. “A very special thank you to my amazing staff for doing an outstanding job planning and executing this event. Your hard work, attention to detail and commitment to our community truly made the difference. Together, we made this event a resounding success!”
