DETROIT, Mich., July 20, 2022 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed House Bill 5783, the general government spending plan for fiscal 2023, into law today. State Rep. Brenda Carter (D-Pontiac) advocated for a number of spending items, including $500,000 for the Ascend Foundation and $1 million for Honor Community Health, which were included in the budget signed today. In response, Carter issued the following statement:
“I am so proud that the state of Michigan is supporting these two extremely worthy foundations that do so much good in Oakland County, and in Pontiac particularly. Helping underserved communities succeed economically and access critical health needs will create positive reverberations throughout our community and the state. As Pontiac’s state representative, I will continue fighting to ensure our community gets the support it needs to grow and thrive.”
