State Rep. Mary Cavanagh (D-Redford Twp.) was sworn in today as representative for the 2021-2022 legislative session. The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 101st Legislature.
“I’m incredibly humbled by the opportunity to serve my hometown in the Michigan Legislature, ensuring the hardworking members of our community continue to have their voices heard loud and clear in Lansing,” said Cavanagh. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues in order to address the issues our residents and families are facing by fighting for a more empowered educational landscape for our students and educators, strengthened employment opportunities, and quality, affordable health care.”
Rep. Cavanagh is serving her first term representing the 10th House District, which encompasses Redford Charter Township and a portion of northwest Detroit. Cavanagh became a proud graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Physical Anthropology in December of 2020, expanding on her previous work focused on sustainable community building.
