LANSING, Mich. Sept. 21, 2021 — Last week, it was announced that a federal grant through the U.S. Department of Education’s Child Care Access Means Parenting in School program will be awarded to Mott Community College in Flint. Mott Community College, which teaches thousands of students in the Flint area each year, will receive $131,474 in grant money to go towards supporting childcare for low-income students. State Rep. John Cherry (D-Flint) issued the following statement:

“One of the most significant barriers student-parents face is the inability to find childcare. This grant will allow many families to take advantage of the support and quality education Mott Community College offers, expanding opportunities for two generations of learners. I look forward to seeing the many ways this funding will help families in our community thrive.”
