Cherry on Transportation Grant to City of Mt. Morris

LANSING, Mich., Aug. 12, 2021 — Yesterday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced the awarding of a combined $3.7 million in road funding grants to small cities and villages. The city of Mt. Morris will receive more than $73,305,  a 50% match, for repairs to Van Buren Street. In response, state Rep. John Cherry (D-Flint) issued the following statement:

“I am thrilled that we will be investing in the local roads in Mt. Morris. This grant will make much-needed repairs to Van Buren Avenue, just north of the library to the dead end by repairing or replacing the existing pavement, curb and gutter in areas that are in extremely poor condition. When I first ran for election I remember walking Van Buren and noting the need for repairs. I am glad the dollars we appropriated will be helping in our community and I look forward to seeing what more we can do to improve other local roads in Genesee County. ”
