LANSING — House Democrats held a press conference this morning to unveil their Health Over Profits for Everyone (H.O.P.E.) package, aimed at lowering out-of-pocket costs for prescription medications and doctor visits while increasing accountability for pharmaceutical companies engaged in price gouging. In response, state Rep. John Chirkun (D-Roseville), who introduced House Bill 4702 in the package to empower the attorney general to investigate insulin prices, issued the following statement:

“It is unthinkable that any Michigander must face being priced out of medication essential to their well-being, yet that is the unfortunate reality that many of our residents face each and every day. My bill would help ensure that everyone in this state has access to insulin when they need it by empowering the attorney general to pursue bad actors looking to take advantage of our most vulnerable residents. Everyone deserves high-quality, affordable health care and that is something I believe we can all get behind.”
