LANSING, Mich., Nov. 12, 2021 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed House Bill 4654 this week, which aims to create the Rare Disease Advisory Council within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. State Rep. Cara A. Clemente (D-Lincoln Park), the sponsor of the bill, issued the following statement in support:

“For far too long, the needs of people living with rare diseases have gone under-addressed. By forming the Rare Disease Advisory Council, Michigan will join 21 other states in prioritizing the needs of patients with rare diseases. I look forward to working with stakeholders and my elected counterparts to ensure this bill becomes law so that we can transform the lives of thousands of Michiganders dealing with rare diseases across this state.”
