TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., June 4, 2024 — The Michigan Department of Transportation recently announced it will invest nearly $1.8 million to improve 11.7 miles of U.S. 31 from south of Dock/Brackett Road in Acme to north of Campbell Road north of Elk Rapids. The project includes chip sealing and asphalt paving, and will support 22 jobs. Following the announcement, state Rep. Betsy Coffia (D-Traverse City) issued the following statement:

“As we continue to fix the roads, I’m pleased to see the investment for the resurfacing of U.S. 31 in Grand Traverse and Antrim counties. This project not only enhances safety with new signs and pavement markings, but it also contributes to our local economy by supporting almost two dozen jobs. Maintaining our roads is essential for the strength, safety and prosperity of our hometowns.”
