LANSING, Mich., May 15, 2025 — State Rep. Betsy Coffia (D-Traverse City) spoke in favor of House Bill 4392 yesterday, urging her colleagues to support the bill’s passage. This appropriations bill would provide funding for many projects across our state through the Natural Resources Trust Fund (NRTF) and would enhance the state’s environment while improving recreational opportunities for residents.

The projects being funded include the Ottaway Crossing Footbridge and the Three Mile Trail Extension in Grand Traverse County, as well as the Platte River State Fish Hatchery Accessibility and Education project in Benzie County. Each of these projects will receive $400,000 from the NRTF. After the bill’s passage, Coffia issued the following statement:

“This is more than an appropriations bill — it’s a commitment to Michigan’s future. With over $41 million dedicated to enhancing parks, trails and outdoor spaces across more than 50 counties and $800,000 for projects around the 103rd House District, this legislation strengthens our economy, supports jobs and ensures that every Michigander — from Northern Michigan to Detroit — has access to the natural beauty that defines our state. It’s an investment in recreation, in community and in the legacy we leave for the next generation.”
