WESTLAND, Mich, Sept. 6, 2023 — As severe weather hammered Michigan a few weeks ago, many people and businesses were left without power, roads were flooded and many properties were damaged. State Rep. Kevin Coleman (D-Westland) wants to hear from constituents about how the storms affected them, as well as to share their outage stories with DTE Energy.

“As we continue to experience severe and damaging storms, it is important that we hold those who provide a power service responsible for ensuring we continue to have power in our communities,” Coleman said. “It’s ridiculous in this day and age that people continue to suffer without power for long periods of time while companies continue to make record profits. We must make our energy system more reliable and secure so that the people of our state don’t suffer from these long-lasting power outages. I’m, once again, calling on DTE to make real upgrades to their power infrastructure in the Wayne-Westland community, where my constituents have been repeatedly burdened with power outages.”
