WESTLAND, Mich., June 6, 2022 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced an investment by Ford of more than $2 billion across the company’s plants in Michigan. The project is expected to create more than 3,200 good-paying union jobs and help further the company’s electric vehicle (EV) future in the state, while also securing the company’s existing internal combustion engine vehicle operations in Michigan. State Rep. Kevin Coleman (D-Westland) issued the following statement in response:

“The auto and manufacturing industry built Michigan’s economy, and this investment in EVs and hardworking Michiganders will only help drive our economy forward. I’m excited to see how this announcement solidifies our place as leaders in manufacturing, while bringing more good-paying union jobs back to Southeast Michigan.”
