State Rep. Jennifer Conlin (D-Ann Arbor Charter Twp.) testifies in a House committee at the Anderson House Office Building in Lansing on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024.
LANSING, Mich., March 13, 2025 — State Rep. Jennifer Conlin (D-Ann Arbor Charter Twp.) introduced House Resolution 43 today to support the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which guaranteed marriage equality nationwide. The resolution reaffirms a commitment to protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals and rejecting any attempts to roll back hard-won freedoms. After introducing the resolution, Conlin issued the following statement:
“This issue is deeply personal to me — I have a daughter in the LGBTQ+ community and a wonderful daughter-in-law, and I’ve seen firsthand the joy and love that marriage brings to all families. But no one should need a personal connection to care about equality. This is about dignity, liberty and the fundamental promise of our Constitution that all people are created equal. Michigan must continue to stand on the side of inclusion and ensure that discrimination has no home in our laws or in our communities.”
