WHITMORE LAKE, Mich., Oct. 10, 2024 — State Rep. Jennifer Conlin (D-Ann Arbor) presented a new automated external defibrillator (AED) to Whitmore Lake High School last week during the homecoming football game. Legislation signed into law this year ensures schools have well maintained and accessible AEDs — ensuring the device is available within one to three minutes during a cardiac emergency. In celebration of the new law, the NFL donated 50 AEDs for Michigan legislators to distribute to schools in their districts. Conlin issued the following statement after presenting the AED:
“I am happy to have delivered this lifesaving device to Whitmore Lake High School during their homecoming game festivities. The safety, security and peace of mind of our students, teachers, staff and visitors is a top priority. With this new device, our school got a big safety boost. Should the need for an AED ever arise, it will be here, ready for use.”
