DEARBORN – State Representative George T. Darany (Dearborn) today praised the release of funds to construct the new Dearborn Train Station on Michigan Avenue. The $28.2 million grant was secured through the Federal Railroad Administration under the High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail program. These funds will be used improve passenger rail service by building a new and modern train station in downtown Dearborn.
“This is great news for the City of Dearborn,” Darany said. “I truly appreciate the collaboration between MDOT, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, the City of Dearborn, The Henry Ford and of course our great Congressional representatives, specifically Congressman John Dingell and Senator Debbie Stabenow. If it would not have been for the hard work and dedication of all involved, this vision would not have become a reality.”
This project will create a commuter link between Dearborn and Ann Arbor and will accommodate bus systems and other transportation services to local venues and surrounding communities. It will be located adjacent to the Henry Ford Museum on Michigan Avenue.
“Our community will be at the forefront of creating a vital transportation network in Michigan,” Darany said. “This connection will help attract new businesses, visitors, and job opportunities in Dearborn and will certainly provide substantial benefits for years to come.”
