LANSING – State Representative George T. Darany(D-Dearborn) was sworn in today to his first term representing the residents of the 15th House District. Darany, along with the other members of the Michigan House, took the oath of office during a ceremony at the State Capitol marking the beginning of the 96th Legislature.

“I’m excited about getting down to work and making the changes that our state needs to strengthen our communities,” Darany said. “We must do more to create and protect jobs to move our state forward. As a former small business owner myself, I will stand up for our small businesses and work to create more opportunities for them to succeed and grow. I will also fight to protect our schools and make sure that all our children can get the high-quality education they deserve. We need to make sure every state dollar is being spent wisely on the right priorities during these tough times. I look forward to working in partnership with everyone in our community to make it an even better place to live, work, grow and do business.”

Darany, a Realtor for 16 years, is the former owner and founder of Classic Trolley Co. He was elected to the Dearborn City Council in 2007.He was Dearborn Goodfellows President for 2008-09, Dearborn Rotarian of the Year 2008-09, and is an usher at Sacred Heart Church. Darany is an Edsel Ford High School graduate and has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan – Dearborn.
