Small businesses have always been the backbone of our communities. They employ our families, friends and neighbors, and drive our local economies. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a tremendous toll on these neighborhood fixtures in the ongoing battle to save lives. Michigan House Democrats are fighting to get small businesses the support they need to get back on their feet by:
- Creating the Michigan Mainstreet Initiative to help stabilize small businesses by securing grants for restaurants and other placed-based businesses to keep our communities’ downtowns and main streets vibrant and resilient.
- Establishing the Michigan Microenterprise Support Initiative to help put small businesses with less than nine employees on the path to recovery by creating access to much-needed support.
- Implementing the Business Accelerator and Resiliency Initiative to provide grants to high-tech startup businesses to help local communities thrive.
