ANN ARBOR — State Representative Gretchen Driskell (D-Saline) will host a meeting of the House Democrats’ Small Business and Job Creation Task Force on Monday, Sept. 30, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Scio Township Hall, 827 N. Zeeb Road in Ann Arbor. Driskell is a member of the task force, which seeks to increase support for local businesses so they can put more Michiganders to work.

“As a local elected official actively involved in economic development for the last 20 years, I recognize the importance of small business in job creation,” Driskell said. “It is important to provide this platform for small business owners to tell state legislators their areas of concern and how we can better serve them.”

The meeting will include a presentation by local business leaders and a question-and-answer session. Joining the task force at the event are Paul Krutko, president and CEO of Ann Arbor SPARK; Charlie Penner, regional director of the Greater Washtenaw Team of the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center; and local entrepreneurs Joseph Lambert, president of Sequoia Applied Solutions, and Rani Bookvich, founder and CEO of Rani’s NutraFoods.

Haugh (D-Roseville), and Reps. Vicki Barnett (D-Farmington Hills), Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids), Paul D. Clemente (D-Lincoln Park), Bill LaVoy (D-Monroe), Sean McCann (D-Kalamazoo),Woodrow Stanley (D-Flint) and Jim Townsend (D-Royal Oak).
