Minority Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee committed to passing a budget that addresses the cost of living crisis
LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2025 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session today. In her speech, the governor discussed her plan to lower costs for families, increase funding for public schools and improve infrastructure across Michigan. After the address, state Rep. Alabas Farhat (D-Dearborn) issued the following statement:
“People across our state are experiencing a quality of life crisis. We made progress these two past years with record investments in child care and a historical tax cut for our state’s working families. But we still have more work to do.
“I look forward to continuing my partnership with Gov. Whitmer and my colleagues across the aisle to pass commonsense solutions that upgrade our state’s roads, lower housing costs and set students up for success.”
