Fitzgerald Celebrates Historic ‘Make it in Michigan’ Investments for Local Hispanic Chamber

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Aug 18, 2023 — State Rep. John Fitzgerald (D-Wyoming) and Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) visited the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce this morning to speak with special guests about their hopes for continued economic growth in the West Michigan Hispanic community. They celebrated the historic investment for the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, made possible by the “Make it in Michigan” budget.

“The West Michigan Hispanic Chamber was awarded a historic $5 million investment from the state in our ‘Make it in Michigan’ budget. That funding will be transformational not only for the Hispanic Chamber, but also for all the businesses it serves throughout this community,” Fitzgerald said. “The Hispanic community in West Michigan is one of the fastest-growing, most dynamic communities in our state, and I am proud to represent many of them in the state Legislature.

“This investment demonstrates our recognition and continued commitment to the economic growth and well-being of this community. The Hispanic Chamber will be able to provide a new, vibrant community space that will be an economic driver for years to come. I would like to thank my partners in both chambers of the Legislature and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for helping to craft this remarkable budget. We have many things to celebrate in this budget, and I’m glad I was able to connect once again with business leaders in my district.”

“Today’s leaders in Lansing are well aware of the enormous value that small businesses add to our community, and particularly those that reflect our growing diversity. I was pleased to support this investment of state resources in the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce so they can offer even more support to Hispanic entrepreneurs who are creating jobs, vitality and opportunity in my district,” said Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks.
