WYOMING, Mich., June 7, 2024 — State Rep. John Fitzgerald (D-Wyoming) presented a new automated external defibrillator (AED) to Wyoming High School on Thursday. Recently signed legislation requires schools maintain AEDs and ensure they are accessible within one to three minutes during a cardiac emergency. In celebration of the new law, the NFL donated 50 AEDs for Michigan legislators to distribute to schools in their districts. Fitzgerald issued the following statement after presenting the AED to Wyoming High School:
“We’re increasing the number of AEDs available in our communities so that every school has the tools and the know-how they need to respond to cardiac emergencies,” said state Rep. John Fitzgerald (D-Wyoming). “These new laws not only represent our work to make schools safer, but also show the strength we have when we come together for the common good.”
