Local leaders clarify support for small businesses
WYOMING, Mich., March 18, 2024 — State Rep. John Fitzgerald (D-Wyoming), chair of the House Committee on Local Government and Municipal Finance, hosted a town hall on Friday with local small-business owners and community leaders to discuss the challenges they face and opportunities to create solutions. The town hall provided a platform for small-business owners to voice their concerns, share their experiences and seek guidance on various issues.
“I’d like to express my gratitude to all those who attended. We need to maintain a dialogue and partnership between economic development corporations and the small business community,” Fitzgerald said. “I look forward to bringing the feedback I received back to Lansing to continue to advocate for the small-business community.”
Representatives from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) and other guest organizations offered insights into available resources, funding opportunities and support programs designed to bolster small business growth.
“MEDC was honored to participate in Rep. John Fitzgerald’s town hall to discuss available resources for small businesses in the Wyoming community and across the state,” said Suzanne Perreault, director of small business services for MEDC. “We are especially excited about the investments being made through the Small Business Support Hub program that will help four West Michigan-based entities build capacity, develop and scale small business programming, and help businesses navigate Making it in Michigan.”
