LANSING, Mich., July 1, 2020 — State Rep. Alex Garza (D-Taylor) had three bills signed into law by Gov. Whitmer today. House Bills 5347, 5348 and 5400 are part of a bipartisan package that amends Michigan’s Liquor Control Code in order to improve competition within the state’s three-tier system. Following the signing, Rep. Garza issued the following statement:
“Small businesses, such as Michigan’s beloved craft breweries, are the lifeblood of our local economies and important members of our communities. Now more than ever, it is important that we take steps to ensure their well-being and ability to fairly compete in the marketplace, which is exactly what these new laws will do. I would like to thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their hard work and cooperation on this package, and Gov. Whitmer for quickly signing our bills into law.”
