“Earlier in this school year, I advocated for a safe learning environment for DPS students and staff from the inception of their premature reopening. Now I am heartened to see a decision that will help mitigate the dangers of both COVID-19 exposure along with our current flu season, which could present yet another set of health challenges for students and staff in a face-to-face school environment.
“The decision to go virtual at DPS beginning this Monday couldn’t be more timely. While the virtual platform for learning is not without challenges, it is by far the safest teaching delivery model for DPS students and staff. We must work to ensure that teachers are successful by capping virtual class sizes and providing support to parents and students to navigate this new, but safe, learning environment.”
