“As a former DPS teacher, I have a lot of concerns about schools reopening during the pandemic. We need to have a plan and clear guidelines in place, so all our students and teachers can be safe. I don’t believe any of us want to risk the safety or wellbeing of our kids, which means we have to do this right – we can’t cut corners. We must listen to the voices of our educators and medical professionals. Decisions about education need to be made in consultation with the teachers and administrators that will have to implement them, which is exactly why I introduced House Bill 5834, along with Rep. Brad Paquette’s HB 5833 last month. We need the voices of our teachers and administrators now more than ever, to ensure everyone is safe when we return to school.”
