LANSING, Mich., Feb. 26, 2025 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session today. In her speech, the governor discussed her plan to lower costs for families ahead of more looming tariffs, increase the workforce and deliver results for the people of Michigan. After the address, state Rep. Carol Glanville (D-Walker) issued the following statement:

“I was proud to have my stepson as my guest tonight for the governor’s State of the State Address. As a postgraduate student, he faces the decision many young professionals in our state do — staying home or leaving the state for career opportunities. I wholeheartedly agree with the governor’s message that we need to provide more opportunities for young people to build their lives right here in Michigan. I look forward to continuing my work in the Legislature to ensure we keep creating these opportunities and incentives for people to remain in their home state.”
