LANSING, Mich., Jan. 31, 2025 — State Rep. Carol Glanville (D-Walker) is honored to announce her committee appointments for the 2025-26 legislative session.

Glanville will serve on the House Appropriations Committee. She has been named minority vice chair of the School Aid and Department of Education Subcommittee, as well as a member of the subcommittees on Medicaid and Behavioral Health, and Joint Capital Outlay.

“The School Aid budget has a direct impact on the future of Michigan’s youngest residents, yet they do not have a say in the process,” Glanville said. “As a former educator and member of the House Education Policy Committee, I am in a position to be a strong advocate for our kiddos and look forward to working with my colleagues to continue strong investments in Michigan’s schools, providing every student and family access to a quality education.”

The Appropriations Subcommittee on School Aid and Department of Education plays a pivotal role in determining how Michigan allocates funding for K-12 schools. As vice chair, Glanville will help ensure that education remains a top priority in the state’s budget, focusing on funding that addresses the needs of both students and educators.

In addition, the Appropriations Subcommittee on Medicaid and Behavioral Health is instrumental to ensuring that Michigan’s most vulnerable residents have access to critical health care services. As a member of this subcommittee, Glanville will advocate for policies that improve mental health services and ensure affordable, quality care for Michiganders.

The Appropriations Subcommittee on Joint Capital Outlay is responsible for reviewing and allocating funds for state infrastructure projects, such as roads, public buildings and other capital improvements. Glanville’s participation on this subcommittee will allow them to guide investments that create jobs, enhance public safety and improve the quality of life for Michiganders across the state.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on these committees and to advocate for policies that will make a lasting difference in the lives of Michigan residents,” Glanville added. “With these new roles, I am ready to work collaboratively with my colleagues and ensure that Michigan’s budget reflects our shared priorities.”
