LANSING — State Representative Robert Kosowski (D-Westland) was honored to take part in a ceremonial bill signing for House Bill 4985, which became Public Act 439 of 2014 when it passed both the House and Senate and Gov. Rick Snyder signed it into law. The governor held a ceremonial signing today, and Kosowski was joined by Wayne-Westland firefighter David Polite and his son Tyler, and fellow state Rep. Julie Plawecki (D-Dearborn Heights), whose district includes a portion of Westland.

“I’m proud to be able to honor Brian Woehlke and his sacrifice. The least we can do for someone who gave his life for his community is to honor his memory,” Kosowski said. “I’d also like to thank Westland Mayor Bill Wild, Fire Chief Michael Reddy, IAFF Local 1279 and the Westland City Council for their help on this legislation.”

Woehlke died in the line of duty in 2013. PA 439 names a portion of M-153, also called Ford Road, the Firefighter Brian Woehlke Memorial Highway.
