LANSING – Today the House adopted HR 115, a House Resolution co-sponsored by House Speaker Lee Chatfield (R-Levering) and House Democratic Leader Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) calling for Representative Larry Inman (R-Traverse City) to resign from his position in the House. Earlier this year, Rep. Inman was charged with attempted extortion, soliciting a bribe, and making a false statement to the FBI, in relation to his attempts to solicit money in exchange for a vote on a measure to repeal Michigan’s prevailing wage law. In response to today’s vote, Leader Greig issued the following statement:
“It is a great honor to serve the people of our communities as an elected official, but with that honor comes great responsibility. Whether or not his charges result in a conviction, it is clear that Rep. Inman has broken the trust of the people who put him in office, as evidenced by the recall petition initiated by his own constituents. It is high time that Rep. Inman does the right thing for his district and resign from his position.”
