LANSING – Longtime Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson died Saturday morning from pancreatic cancer at his home in Independence Township. Patterson served Oakland County from 1992 until his death. Though an often controversial figure, under Patterson’s fiscal management Oakland County experienced tremendous economic growth, leading to a AAA bond rating the county held for a number of years. In response to the passing of L. Brooks Patterson, House Democratic Leader Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) issued the following statement:

“Oakland County will forever be grateful for the decades-long dedication of L. Brooks Patterson. Though we strongly disagreed on more than a few issues, Patterson’s hard work to build a thriving community is undeniable. He was one of a kind and will be missed by many in the county.”
