LANSING, Mich., Oct. 6, 2022 — State Rep. Jim Haadsma (D-Battle Creek) met with local business leaders and small-business owners to hear what challenges they are currently facing and discuss solutions the state can provide. A central aim was to learn the needs of business owners, so they can receive the resources and tools needed to thrive.

“Small businesses are the backbone of local economies — this is certainly the case in Calhoun County. I want to do all I can to support those who have businesses here; they bring character and strength to our community,” Haadsma said. “That’s why I wanted to get together to provide small-business owners an opportunity to discuss the obstacles they are up against. Their perspectives are essential. I want to thank all those who attended. They were gracious with their time and shared many helpful thoughts and ideas that I can take back to the Capitol to advocate for them and other small business owners in Michigan.”

Haadsma is a long-standing supporter of small businesses and Michigan workers. He has sponsored and co-sponsored several pieces of labor rights and employment legislation and supported the Pure Michigan Small Business Relief Initiative program. In his continued dedication to small businesses and the local economy, Haadsma looks forward to more discussions and events to hear from Michiganders.
