LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues facing Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Jim Haadsma (D-Battle Creek) issued the following statement:

“It has been a long time since the families of Calhoun County have felt they had someone actively fighting for their best interests in Lansing. Gov. Whitmer’s speech this evening made it clear she is a firm ally in expanding economic opportunity for our struggling communities and caring for our neighbors who dedicated their lives to serving others, like my guest, Mr. Pignataro. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on all of these important issues.”

Rep. Haadsma was joined by Calhoun County Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Pignataro for the address.
