“During this unprecedented situation with our students effectively quarantined, Michigan’s educators are rising to the occasion to ensure our children can continue to learn during this crisis. However, I’m deeply concerned that the Michigan Department of Education is prevented by state law from counting online learning toward yearly requirements, as it stands. In recognition of the logistical and legal barriers the MDE is facing, I urge the Legislature, Gov. Whitmer and MDE to act swiftly on a solution to stand by our educators and children, because our future depends on it.”
