LANSING, Mich., Sept. 16, 2021 – Ford announced today that its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn is complete. The first F-150 Lightning pre-production trucks are leaving the factory for real-world testing. Ford also announced plans to invest an additional $250 million to create 450 jobs in Dearborn, Ypsilanti, and Sterling Heights to support the production of the new F-150 Lightning. In response, state Rep. Abdullah Hammoud (D-Dearborn) issued the following statement:

“It only seems right that the birthplace of automotive innovation would play a major part in spearheading the new age of electrification and mobility for generations to come. Michigan’s success is directly tied to whether or not its people are able to have a good job and live in a safe environment. Ford’s announcement brings us a step closer to cleaner air, carbon neutrality and a stronger economy in Dearborn and this state.”
