ROSEVILLE — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced an Executive Directive today requiring state departments to give preference to Michigan businesses when making purchasing decisions, boosting the economy and keeping good-paying jobs in-state. State Rep. Kevin Hertel (D-St. Clair Shores) was in attendance for the announcement, and after the event, issued the following statement:

“Governor Whitmer’s directive is unique in its explicit prioritization of both environmental and worker protections when awarding state contracts. This directive will help ensure both continued financial security for families and long-term environmental stewardship across our state, and I am looking forward to what it brings for Michigan contractors and workers.”
