LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2022 — Today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her fourth State of the State address from Detroit Diesel. Her remarks highlighted proposals that put Michiganders first by growing Michigan’s economy, creating jobs, cutting taxes and lowering costs for families. In response, state Rep. Kevin Hertel (D-St. Clair Shores) issued the following statement:
“The Earned Income Tax Credit is one of the most effective ways to combat poverty. Gov. Whitmer’s plans for expanding this critical tool will go a long way in helping working families in places like my community. I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on this plan and more.”
