Strong Hometowns; Strong Michigan
- Making your backyard safer — $110.9 million for Public Safety Trust Fund.
- Improving the quality of life for Michiganders by bettering child welfare, public assistance, behavioral health, aging services and public health.
- Investing $25.4 million to fund 600 residential foster care and juvenile justice beds.
- $5 million to support recommendations from the Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities, specifically for mobile health units and Sickle Cell Center for Excellence. Also, funds for better maternal and infant health.
- Includes one-time funding for grants to community-based organizations that provide training and programming on new extreme risk protection orders and safe storage laws.
- Millions in investments to support art and culture in your hometowns — including $12 million for community museum grants and $6 million for symphony orchestra competitive grants.
- $15 million for community and neighborhood organizations.
- We are helping house veterans and their families, and helping vets access the benefits they’ve earned.
Strong Main Streets; Strong Michigan
- $20 million in economic development and community revitalization.
- $200 million to increase housing stock and affordability.
- $4 million for Double Up Food Bucks — this is a significant increase. Plus, $3 million for expansion into grocery stores and farmer’s markets. This means more healthy food for more Michiganders.
- Increases in child care aid, so families are stable and comfortable.
- $10 million for YMCA
- Disaster relief funding to help local governments better respond to natural events caused by climate change
- Scholarships for police academy recruits — helps to retain and recruit.
- Funding for the secure disposal of unwanted firearms.

- Making college more affordable than ever.
- We’re lowering the costs for local school districts and putting more money into classrooms where it belongs.
- House Dems are focused on making college more affordable and addressing the costs that pile up as students pursue higher education.
- Increased the foundation allowance and lowered costs for schools to keep dollars in the classroom where those investments belong.
- $200 million to continue providing breakfast and lunch for all students.
- $331.3 million for mental health and school safety — including security upgrades.
- This budget is about making sure students can and want to stay in Michigan.
- Gives students the necessary tools to stay in school and stay in Michigan.
- Helps address the housing crisis by helping students afford housing while attending school.

- We are making investments that will transform how we look and think about transportation.
- We are envisioning mobility in new ways — looking at innovative ways of getting around.
- Includes funding to implement the Clean Energy program. $5.5 million for grants to businesses, nonprofit organizations, and local governments for planning, developing or constructing renewable energy and electrification infrastructure projects.
- Investing in drinking water and wastewater projects — $82.2 million for water infrastructure projects.
- Additionally, there are lead line replacement dollars — $50 million for lead service line replacement to remove and replace lead lines in the poorest 10% of Michigan communities.
