LANSING, Mich., May 2, 2023 — State Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) introduced House Resolution 96 today, which declares May 2023 as Bike Month in the state of Michigan.  An estimated 2 million Michiganders ride bicycles — they are a viable and environmentally sound mode of transportation, an excellent form of fitness, and help to improve quality of life and sense of community and connection between Michiganders. After introducing the resolution, Hood issued the following statement:

“Numerous benefits come along with biking, which is why I’m glad to introduce a resolution to encourage folks to get out and ride. Commuting by bicycle is a wonderful way to help improve our air quality, reduce traffic congestion and conserve energy. On top of that, cycling can improve physical and mental health, bring people together and allow us to enjoy Michigan’s gorgeous scenery — both rural and urban landscapes alike.”
