LANSING — Last week, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to issue emergency rules to protect Michigan’s kids from the harmful effects of vaping. The governor’s order bans the sale of flavored nicotine vaping products, and misleading marketing regarding their safety. In response, state Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement:

“Our state is currently facing an unprecedented public health crisis caused by the exponential rise in e-cigarette use, particularly among Michigan’s youth. We need to take the threats posed by these devices seriously, and that means taking bold action to better understand the implications of e-cigarette use. I fully support Gov. Whitmer’s initiative to tackle this growing epidemic head-on and I look forward to supporting those efforts legislatively.”
