HOLT, Mich., Oct. 8, 2024 — State Rep. Kara Hope (D-Holt) attended a groundbreaking ceremony today to celebrate the start of renovations at the Delhi Township Fire Station. These necessary upgrades will improve the air filtration system and move dorm space closer to bays, shortening emergency response time.
“Our first responders put their lives on the line for our residents every single day,” Hope said. “It is our job as elected officials to ensure they have every resource at their disposal to keep themselves safe in the line of duty and to improve their ability to serve our community.”
Hope helped secure $7.5 million in state funding for this project in the annual budget. The $10 million renovation also consists of $2.5 million from the township’s general fund.
“I am proud to have secured this essential funding for the Delhi Township Fire Station,” Hope said. “These funds will not only make an immediate impact on our community, but also ensure a safer future for our first responders and the residents they protect.”
“Residents turn to their township emergency services department in times of need for assistance and support, and Delhi Charter Township is an exemplary example of this essential local service,” said Neil Sheridan, executive director of the Michigan Townships Association. “We congratulate the township on groundbreaking for renovations to its fire station, which — without increasing taxes or seeking a new millage — will not only improve overall operations for department personnel but will also enhance critical emergency services to their residents and greater community.”
