LANSING, Mich., March 9, 2022 — The House Appropriations Committee approved a legislative transfer today to move $666 million from the Strategic Outreach and Attractive Reserve Fund to the Michigan Strategic Site Readiness Program. The legislative transfer would allow General Motors to create hundreds of new, good-paying electric vehicle and manufacturing jobs in Michigan. In response, state Rep. Joe Tate (D-Detroit), vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement: 

“We took a very important step today in securing funds to continue electrifying our economy. By investing in critical EV developments, we can ensure Michigan stays at the forefront of mobility and electrification while providing more opportunities for Michigan families to get ahead.”
