LANSING – The Michigan House Democratic Caucus chose Rep. Tim Greimel(D-Auburn Hills) to become the House Democratic Leader for the 2013-2014 session. Rep. Rudy Hobbs (D-Southfield) will serve as Democratic Floor Leader.

“My pledge to the families, seniors and students of Michigan is to work tirelessly on their behalf by fighting for policies that will help them and move our state forward,” Greimel said. “I know that people around the state have been struggling under the weight of tax increases, our schools have been devastated by funding cuts and our small business owners are fighting for survival. House Democrats are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work for them. I’m grateful for the support of the House Democratic Caucus, and I look forward to working with them to communicate the Democratic message and move Michigan in the right direction.”

Greimel joined the Legislature during a special election in February and is a member of the House Energy and Technology, Health Policy and Military and Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security committees. An attorney who practiced in the areas of labor, employment and civil rights, Greimel previously served as a member and president of the Rochester Board of Education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science and a master’s degree in public policy and a law degree from the University of Michigan.
