“More than six years after the start of the Flint water crisis, the community is still dealing with the ramifications. Today the hard work of Governor Whitmer and Attorney General Nessel brings the people of Flint one step closer to the justice they deserve. This is in no way an end to this crisis, there is much more work ahead.
“The State owes it to this community to continue to make amends for the missteps that led to this crisis. We must also ensure that we learn from the mistakes of the past and be vigilant in ensuring we don’t repeat history. As part of that effort, the state legislature has an important role to play. Legislation is needed to protect our state’s drinking water so that every resident in our state can have confidence that their taps are safe. House Democrats are determined to deliver not just for the people of Flint, but for communities across the state. “
