“Michigan’s electors performed their legal duty, and honored the will of millions of voters, when they cast our state’s sixteen electoral votes for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris today.
“Despite an unprecedented, concerted effort to undermine the public’s confidence in our election and our democratic institutions, we are on our way toward peacefully transferring presidential power, as we have for the last 230 years.
“Whether you voted for Joe Biden or Donald Trump in November, we should all pause to celebrate the strength and resilience of our republic. The voters decided, the election result was certified, and now our electoral votes have been cast. It’s time to set aside the destructive hyperpartisanship of the election season and end efforts—both outside and, sadly, within our state legislature—to cast doubts on this election, to spread debunked conspiracy theories, and to divide our state and nation.”
