LANSING — Today, Gov. Whitmer’s office announced Executive Order 13, restructuring the Department of Talent and Economic Development (TED) into the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). The Executive Order seeks to streamline and better coordinate efforts within state government to meet the state’s business and labor needs by consolidating workforce and economic development functions into one department. To head LEO, Gov. Whitmer appointed Jeff Donofrio. In response to this Executive Order, House Democratic Leader Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) issued the following statement:

“I am committed to supporting our Michigan workers by providing them the efficient line of communication with our state government that they deserve. Our state has a wealth of talent and we must do all we can to provide Michigan’s workers and labor organizations with the one-stop-shop support that will help workers reach their potential and thrive. This restructuring does just that. I applaud Gov. Whitmer’s Executive Order and appointment of Jeff Donofrio as the head of LEO. I look forward to working with him and LEO to ultimately strengthen our state’s economy and families.”
